Antigone by Rebecca Weber

Your One Phone Call

Do you know how hard it is
when you’re a woman who doesn’t care
about how her eyebrows look,
when you don’t care about celebrities,
when you’re trying to make friends.

I don’t think you know how it feels
to want to expand your consciousness
without the help of crystals you bought at the mall.

The loneliness that comes with understanding is great,
The loneliness that comes with acceptance is greater.

Rebecca Weber Rebecca Weber is a poet from Long Branch, NJ and a headliner in the NJ Poetry Scene. Her debut chapbook Beauty School Dropout is forthcoming from Indigent Press Fall 2016.
